Misery

Our long good byes have been
plucking bits of my
sanity,

sneaking fractions of my happiness
into your packed
bags.

Each time you call, saying hello,
my heart sinks in
misery

Of what’s to come after
this sweet reuniting
span,

I'm not sure, of the two,
what suffocates my
tranquility

This piercing excitement
of getting to hold you
again

Or that you’ll leave too soon,
drowning me once more in
melancholy.
