Bleeding Hearts

We stood, both
on precipice
of broken homes.

Same old story
Too many own.

Scarred living
On exorbitant loan.

Sordid reality
Of cursed souls.

Feet drudging
By survival’s carillon.

& it could all have been
another tragic anecdote

had we passed by, unseen.
But Chance stacked the odds

in favor of bringing in
Bleeding Hearts close

To make em’ complete
Once more.

  1. The bleeding heart flower is one of the most emotional flowers there is. It portrays such sadness in its appearance, yet it’s one of the most beautiful. Your words match its meaning so well. Nicely penned my friend.
