What if we were as simple

As some law of nature

With run of the mill

Constants involved

Gilded with that

Universal nomenclature

Where variables sit still,

Waiting to be solved

An outcome that holds

Against waves of Time

Unlike the wax clinging

to that melting taper

We, the absolute

Shine in something sublime

With a perfect fitting

That goes beyond the paper

But standing mute

This desire, that intent

Or those thoughts left unsaid

Bear around our weak necks

Signs of anterior damages

And a spine bent in discontent

Is an equation aching to be read

Though the answer is, as usual, repeatedly complex
